Along the way, we attempted to process that 'this is no vacation'. Phil saw construction and traffic south bound on the interstate and said, "I hope we don't get stuck in that traffic on the way home"! It is still sinking in after one week.
Today, we rode our bikes the less than one mile it takes to get to the sandy beach, and then we walked along the ocean at high tide. Its simply breath taking here. Its funny how quickly we can adapt to change. I always like to remind myself of something my dear friend Jean told me when I was probably just sixteen years old--"Sam, God has made His people adaptable"
That is so true, Jean.
Yesterday, we spent our Sabbath with some fourth year medical students from Phil's new school. Most of whom are going into family practice and whose hearts are on fire for the Lord. We laid hands on one another and prayed together. We also shared in the Lord's Supper. Again, I'm amazed at the Lord's provision for His children. Our hearts were encouraged through this fellowship and a new sense of dedication and clarity arose when we heard some of the prayers being lifted up on our behalf from brothers and sisters we had only known for a couple of hours.
Tomorrow, we go just south of Boston to Ikea. We are furnishing our new home and praying that the Lord make this place a place of rest for the weary, a place of learning for the student, and above all, a place of worship for all who enter and dwell.
Outside the sea breeze blows and summer crickets chirp--a boat makes its way home across the sound. My heart is steady.
Beautiful, Sam. I'm so happy that you two have already found fellowship and community there. I am excited to see what else God has in store for you. Enjoy Ikea! :)
