I've been working through the gospel of Mark and this morning the strangest thing struck me. I was amazed at something I've never really pondered before--The Promise of God. Not the big-overarching 'Promise' we hear on cheesy Christian radio or that weekend retreat we sign up for months in advance--somehow thinking 'that'll do the trick, that will clue me in to what God is doing and Who He is, etc'. No, I'm talking the literal promise of God.
We can't open the Bible without reading about a promise God made and a promise God kept. God told Lot, Sodom will be destroyed. And guess what? It was.
God told Abraham that His descendants would be countless. They are.
The very simple yet incredible promise that sparked this whole 'pondering' of mine was in Mark 14. Jesus tells His disciples that they are to keep a lookout for some random guy carrying a pitcher of water--that they are to follow this guy, go into his house and tell him that The Master is coming to have supper in his prepared upper room. And it was so!
There is nothing but Truth from our Father in Heaven. His Holy Spirit guides us to walk in Truth today. We have been given nothing but Promise after Promise...and for some reason, we, His people, doubt what His says.
We live in a time where His return is near. He has promised to His people life. He has instructed us in The Way, and we still act as though we are lost in the wilderness.
People of God, believe in His promise.
