5am. a bit of light starts to creep across the sky. the days are getting longer. temperatures are getting warmer. change is in the air.
my heart has been growing restless. not restless in the sense that it is not content, but restless in the sense that it is running. rather, it has begun the 'jog' stage. steady pounding on the road-deep breaths-stretching the stride-moving the arms.
i know the distance. i have to pace myself. this jog will last for 5 weeks.
...and then the sprint comes.
a season of change is a new kind of animal. it's walk is different. it's manner is different. it requires different care. i find myself letting go of my strong grip here and tightening the rope there. i find myself changing priorites...maybe those dishes are okay there today, and those books aren't due back to the library for another 5 days, but I have to make that call before her lunch break.
i'm amazed at the things the human spirit can will to happen when the end is in sight and the new beggining is just over the horizon.
I think of my sister's wedding. how there is so much to do in the next few weeks, and at the same time, after that lovely day, there will be a rest, a break. then they will begin together.
I think of my friend, Faith, whose end of pregnacy is quickly approaching. Labor will come. the night will be long. and then, she will be pregnant no longer. new life will have begun...
these things, i ponder, and pondering has it's place.
but the sun is up. priorites must be tended.
I miss you Sam. I can relate so well, despite the differences in our lives right now! Proud of you. Can't wait to see you!
ReplyDeleteI think I will always be envious of your early-bird, morning-lover mentality. I want to, I just can't be arsed to get myself out of warm, comfy bed. How do you do it?
ReplyDeletethe only reason I don't like reading my friends' blogs, is that it makes me want to get them all together in a room with good food and drink so we can talk about life. I love the way our lives can be so different, and yet so much the same.
