donkey jaw-bone

Another week is here.  sunday night and already I feel behind for the week.  Lord, grant me the grace.

Phil is in the living room breaking open boxes and putting together furniture that is LONG overdue... almost a year after our move to the wild North and we still sit in camping chairs.  there are worse things, I suppose.

yesterday, we were blessed with about 4 hours of sunlight.  we haven't seen sunlight in what seems like months (I thinks its been about 8 days).  I planted two rows of organic mammoth sunflowers in our garden and filled in our flower beds with chinese forget-me-nots and canterbury bells.   I was so dirty after my few hours of sun-soaking and earth-breaking that I had to soak in a warm bath with Tom's lavender soap.  my feet still appear 'tan'.

friday night, we went out with friends to see david wax museum.  they were playing in someones barn attached to their house.  it was byob.  in phil's case b was bourbon in a flask.  we stomped our feet and shouted like animals.  we danced and remembered good friends playing live music on a farm about this time last year.

we miss good music.  we miss a lot of things since starting school and 'professional' lives.  we've got to work to remember sometimes.  and thats o.k.  we always find our way back to the music...or maybe the music finds us.

tea after dinner, NPR, soft rich dirt, the hope of budding seeds, the perfect scrubs, clipped fingernails, early morning gym sessions with my 'seasoned' friends, husbands without shirts, pedicures that last for a month, candles that smell like Indonesia, asiago cheese, conversations undercovers before the light goes out, neighbors who invite us to brunch, singing hymns in the back of the church at the top of my lungs, dancing after reading Deuteronomy, cool breezes on hot days, life in the presence of death

  2. I'm glad you got some much needed sun-soaked life planting in your garden. When we no longer live in a city, I'll have a garden--I might need some pointers. :) Your byob dancing extravaganza sounds amazing, and just what you needed. Things do change, but you're right God is there through it all bringing blessings and mercies anew. Love you, friend.
