the water swelled up...

we have friends, brothers & sisters,  spread out all over the globe.

maine. uganda. paris. el salvador.  kathmandu. chiang mai.  chicago. nasheville.  atlanta. boston. texas.  oregon. cali.  colorado. ohio. black mountain. santiago. united kingdom. chad. danville. raleigh. asheville. and so on.

recently, it became apparent to me that almost all of those friends have something going on...some new element, some trial, some obstacle, some 'desert place' happening in this moment.

i've been reading the book of Joshua.

Joshua told the people in Chapter 3, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.”  and indeed He did.  Up until this point, the people had seen the mighty hand of the LORD; they remembered how the LORD had brought them out of the captivity of Egypt by way of the parted Red Sea.

After Moses died, the Lord spoke to Joshua saying that the people would know that the LORD is with Joshua just as He was with Moses.

"See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into the Jordan ahead of you.12 Now then, choose twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe. 13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”

The water swelled up.  this is incredible.  a miracle.  an act of God.  Here, in the lifespan of the same people who crossed the Red Sea God reiterates His faithfulness.  He binds the water up again and has His people cross the Jordan.

Repetition.

Brothers and sisters, we typically don't get it the first time (or the second or third for that matter)  I long for the LORD to repeat these miracles.  I need to see the water bound up and provision made.

This morning, I pray for the water to swell and for God to make a way for all His people to cross through this new phase, this season of trial, or this desert place.
